Sleep success

I am super stoked !!! I emailed my naturopath the day I posted my last entry, to ask her about my sleep situation and she suggested I try to get to bed by 10-10:30pm and get up at 8am, and if I needed a nap during the day then set my alarm and sleep for 30 min or just lay down for 20 minutes. So, that night I was in bed a few minutes after 10pm and went to sleep probably around 10:15pm. I did wake up at 4AM, then sometime during 5AM… but then slept until Brad woke me up at 7:45am before he left for work. I felt better during the day, but still struggled a LOT w/being tired. Last night, we came back from grocery shopping and I got into bed and was in bed with my eyes closed at 11pm and I also took 1 pill valerian root, plus the other sleep aid my naturopath gave me and a generic aleve for my teeth. I told Brad to wake me up by 9am, but I woke up on my own at 8:37am……. I was so surprised I slept through the whole night and for almost 10 hours. HECK YES. I haven’t felt tired today, just more so dazed, in a good way. I’m gonna continue to do this and get to bed earlier to help my health and such.

Today has been super! Another GORGEOUS day, just like yesterday. We got up this morning then me and Brad entertained Katie for a bit, with her usual activities that I have been doing in the morning with her, but then she threw a hissy fit when we were done because she wants to do that alllllll daaaaaaaay looooooong, so she wouldn’t talk or do anything, so I sent her to her room to lay in her bed and get her fit out then she eventually got up and played with her toys. Later, she ate lunch and went down for a nap. Brad took the car to get the oil changed and went by the store to pick up a few things. I cleaned house and cooked lots of new foods to have on hand!! I had shrimp and veggies for lunch, yum. After Brad got back we took Katie outside for a nice walk and we got the first part of our taxes in the mail, but we have to wait on another one, since he worked for a temp agency for part of last year. Now, Katie’s watching cartoons and I’m gonna study my scriptures.

THEN THEN THEN….. WE ARE GOING TO WATCH THE FRINGE FINALE! I already have seen gifs on Tumblr from the finale and I’ve already cried today lol so I know I will bawl when I actually see it! I don’t want it to end. Well, it already has but yeah haha. I was gonna go to the church meeting tonight, but my friend that I was gonna ride with isn’t going, so I’m not gonna go.

I also got Brad to pick up some Melatonin, so I’m gonna try that. I know I’m on my way to getting my health in line to lose this weight and get super fit. =) Feeling super blessed!

I know I don’t update often anymore, but really… I have nothing to update about. I might attempt to update more…? Eh. I think I only have a few readers anyway.

A few random things first. Adam (lead singer) has quit Three Days Grace!!! When I heard it on the radio I was like WHA. Apparently, he felt it was time to move on and I think it had to do with issues with his bandmates, or the record company. Adam has hinted at doing solo work in the future, so atleast he isn’t quitting music altogether. B-B-But they just put out a new album and were about to head out on tour!!! They got the leader sing of My Darkest Days to step in as lead singer for the tour. Let’s just say there is no replacing Adam’s voice. Ummm, speaking of entertainment! Let’s see. Been watching the new season of The Biggest Loser and CAN I JUST SAY HOW HAPPY I AM THAT JILLIAN IS BACK?! I love that woman, plus looking at the sexyness of Dolvett and Bob doesn’t suck either! Bones just started again for the new year and we watched the 2 hour premiere last night….. love that show. Fringe will END for good this Friday. SNIFF!!!!!! We’ll probably watch the 2 hour series finale Saturday. Waiting on the return of The Walking Dead in February, then looking forward to seeing SECRET LIFE and Game of THRONES in March!! Yeeee!

We have church meetings this weekend and I am going to go, even if Brad doesn’t want to. I think I tend to only do things if Brad will do them too and I have to take my own stance and do what I feel will HELP ME. Going to church meetings will help me grow!!! I can’t wait to go. There’s a meeting Saturday evening and one Sunday morning.

I’m still working on my sleep/morning energy. Here’s the deal. For the last few weeks I have been TRYING SO HARD to get to bed by 11-11:30pm, but when I do try for that… I’m not really sleepy. THEN, when I do get to sleep a little earlier? I ALWAYS! wake anywhere between 3-5AM and most of the time I just go back to sleep, but then I’m WAY sleepy when Brad wakes me up at 7-8AM, so then I just can’t seem to WAKE UP and lay around until 10-11AM. I hate it, but what I did for a loooong time was I went to bed at 12-1AM then got up with Brad and then went to lay back down at 8AM and would sleep until 10-11AM. I’m sure that had a factor into why my morning cortisol was low, as going back to sleep in the morning deffo wouldn’t help me um… wake up! It’s so hard re-adjusting. I got up this morning, ate a big protein bar then took my supplements and that seemed to keep me semi-OK energy wise. I seem to do better on a bit less sleep… rather than sleeping 8-9 hours. Or more. I even took a 20 minute walk on the treadmill this morning, to see if that would help give me some energy and so far… eh. However, like last night, I went to bed after midnight and didn’t wake up any throughout the night. Seems to work better for me.

Brad and I went through a little… um, rough patch recently. I don’t want to go into details, but we are working to be stronger together. In fact, last Sunday at church one of the Presidency said that we were directed to attend a Strengthening the Marriage class for the next few months! I thought… how ironic. Just when we needed it. =)

OK, so to the biggest news of allllllll. I got my first root canal later last year and was gonna get more dental work done, but going to a specialist for my root canal, crown, etc ate up my insurance… so now that it’s the New Year I went ahead and called earlier this week and made an appointment to finally get my teeth cleaned and see what else needs to be done. I went day before yesterday and they took all the x-rays and got my treatment plan! I have (had) 8 cavities, my cracked back tooth did need a root canal, and I needed the cleaning that required going under the gums a little. Not the deep cleaning like in intense cases, but between the regular cleaning and the intense one. They couldn’t do any work that day, since they were short staffed, so I went to start yesterday! Their machine wouldn’t process the debit card, so I had to (literally) run back to my neighbor’s and she had to take me down to the bank ATM to get the money. Shew. They took me back and the dental hygenist did the full mouth debridement cleaning then polished my teeth! That took an hour? I think? Then off to see the actual dentist to get all my work done for the upper right side, which included the root canal, 3 fillings, and putting on the temp crown. I endured FOUR hours of dental work, and I am soooooooo happy about it because my front canine tooth is now filled and WHITE! I cracked that tooth as a child, so I got it filled when I was younger, but time had worn it away and you could see the black and it’s always been so embarassing to me. NO MORE!!! I got some special mouth wash to use for a week, to help my gums and I just need to stay on top of my dental care! I go back in a mouth to check my gums to see how their healing, but I also go back Jan 31st for the real crown. I’m so thankful that I am able to finally get my dental work done!!!!!!! I’m thinking next year will be BRACES!

The results are…..

First off, I went to sleep at 11pm last night… yay me! However, I woke up at 4:30AM!!! Whaaaat. GRRR. I went back to sleep, woke up at 5-something then went back to sleep till Brad woke me up closer to 8AM. Got up, ate, fixed my hair, eventually got Katie up (who was grumpy and pouty from getting up earlier than usual), and we got ready to leave by 11AM. Knocked on my neighbor’s door then we were off! Dropped Katie at Mom’s then made the drive to my naturopath’s office. My neighbor had to go to her Doc’s appointment, so she left and I waited a little bit before my naturopath called me back.

BASICALLY,
my body is having a hard time converting the T3 and Free T3 thyroid hormones, so she gave me a natural supplement for that. I’m not hypothyroid, but borderline. Just need to boost those levels! Switched to another blood sugar supplement, since the other wasn’t giving me optimal results. My morning cortisol is TOO LOW, which, I thought it was! The other levels throughout the day are fine. She was gonna put me on an adrenal supplement, but she was out of that one… she said if I’m still tired in a week then she’ll mail it to me. And…. I DO have leaky gut, so she gave me the best probiotic there is. Also, I mentioned how I’m kindof OCD and such so she asked if I was willing to try something. I said sure! She wants me to try 10mg of Lithium before bed to help with stress. I’ve read Lithium reallllly feeds the brain, so we’ll see!!! She weighed me in and said that if I don’t lose a good amount of weight by the time I come back on February 7th then we’re gonna do HCG to help get the weight off! And….. NO CARBS aka grains. I pretty much knew that was coming, lol. That’s fine. I’ll do this for my health. I CAN!!! have dairy, as long as it doesn’t give me symptoms. YAY.

I’m SUPER STOKED. Now I have post this and move along cause I have other stuff I need to do and I plan on going to bed as early as possible…… prob around 11 again. Just wanted to update about my appointment! I’m super happy to have ANSWERS and a plan. Gonna get my thyroid/adrenals/and gut back on track so I can feel awesome!!!

2013, day 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

We kissed at midnight and watched the first half of LOTR: The Return of the King then I went to bed… at like 3? We all slept late, especially Brad – who didn’t get up until 3pm, lol. I woke up to rain and it’s been raining, raining, raining all day. Katie watched cartoons later, while I checked online stuff and got started back on college discussions! Later, Katie went to my neighbor’s and we went to Whole Foods then Wal-Mart for a few things. I didn’t want to take her out in the rain/cold, esp. since she still has a slight fever. She’s acting totally normal though, haha.

I plan on going to bed a bit earlier tonight! Gotta start new routines to help my body/health/hormones. Brad’s back at work tomorrow and I think we’re gonna head back to the gym tomorrow too. Hope everyone’s first day of 2013 was good. Looking forward to this year!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)
